Effects of Zhewitra

The main ingredient, vardenafil, inhibits PDE-5 (phosphodiesterase type 5)—an enzyme that hinders erectile function.

PDE-5 breaks down cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), which is essential for erection.

When cGMP is continually degraded, it leads to an inability to achieve an erection, a condition known as ED (erectile dysfunction).

Special Symptoms

Specific visual abnormalities may occur, such as viewing objects as if wearing blue-tinted glasses or difficulty distinguishing between blue and green colors.

In most cases, these are temporary phenomena that require no concern. However, if significant vision loss occurs, there may be a risk of non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION).

If sudden severe vision decline or vision loss occurs, consult an ophthalmologist immediately.

Additionally, if a painful erection persists for more than 4 hours, there may be a risk of priapism (persistent erection).

If an erection lasts longer than 4 hours, seek immediate medical attention.

• Amiodarone hydrochloride (Ancaron tablets) – Combination may intensify QT interval prolongation caused by amiodarone hydrochloride.
• CYP3A4 inhibitors (Antifungals, HIV medications, Telithromycin, Nefazodone, Ketoconazole, Itraconazole, Ritonavir, Saquinavir, Nelfinavir, Atazanavir, etc.) – May lead to increased plasma concentration and prolonged half-life of this drug.
• Nirmatrelvir/Ritonavir (Paxlovid)
• Emtricitabine (Zocoba)

Drugs Requiring Caution

These refer to medications requiring special attention when used concomitantly with Jevitra.

• Grapefruit (including juice) – Contains furanocoumarins which inhibit metabolic enzyme activity, delaying drug breakdown. May cause excessive absorption of drug components, leading to intensified effects or increased side effects.
• Antihypertensive drugs – As Jevitra has hypotensive effects, concurrent use may cause temporary dizziness, unsteadiness, or other symptoms of low blood pressure.
